How to

An extra hand in the kitchen

Sometimes we wish life could be a little easier.

With tech-driven kitchens on the rise, Mark Jenkins, Kitchen Designer at Elliotts Living Spaces in Fareham, looks at 3 appliances that do just that.

Smart fridges

Ever plan a meal while you’re at work, only to forget what you have in the fridge? There is a great Siemens model in their iQ500 range that allows you to check the contents of your fridge from your phone, via the Siemens Home Connect app.

The two integral cameras mean you can plan your food shop from your desk.

2-in-1 hobs

The new Nikolatesla Switch by Elica is an induction hob and extractor fan in one. With no need for a bulky cooker hood, the centre fan captures all cooking fumes and odours and is ultra-quiet, even at maximum power.

This extractor hob is perfect for open-plan living.

Self-cleaning ovens

Although not a new product to the market, the NEFF Slide&Hide ovens work well in tight spaces or near large traffic areas, like doorways. Along with a host of handy features, they come with Pyrolytic self-cleaning. This feature turns cooking spatter and residue into ash. When the oven cools you can simply wipe it away with a cloth.

After all, who wants to spend their day of rest cleaning the oven?
