What is ready mixed concrete?
Ready mixed concrete (also called bagged or pre-mixed concrete) is a dry blend of cement, sand and aggregate that comes ready to use straight from the bag. Simply add water, mix to a workable consistency and apply. It’s perfect for quick and simple applications. Working on a larger project? You may need a bulk ready mix delivery to site.
What is post mix concrete used for?
Post mix concrete is specifically designed for setting fence posts, gate posts, sign posts and similar jobs. It sets quickly and provides a strong, stable base. Simply pour the dry mix into the hole around the post, add water and leave it to cure — no mixing required.
How much ready mixed concrete do I need?
As a general guide, one 20kg bag of ready mixed concrete will cover approximately:
- 0.5m² at 25mm depth
- 0.25m² at 50mm depth

How long does ready mixed concrete take to set?
Standard ready mixed concrete begins to set within 1–2 hours and reaches working strength within 24 hours, though full cure takes around 28 days. Quick-setting cement can be set in as little as 10–15 minutes, making it ideal when you need to work fast.
What is the difference between concrete and mortar?
Concrete contains coarse aggregate (gravel or stone) and is used for structural applications such as foundations, posts and slabs. Whereas mortar is a finer mix of cement and sand, used for bedding and jointing — such as laying bricks or bedding roof tiles. Roof tile bedding mortar, like the Remix range, is specially formulated for use on pitched roofs.
