Team Elliotts to Cycle from Belgium to France for Rainbow Trust
12 Elliotts team members are gearing up to ride over 550 miles from Belgium to France this weekend to raise money for Rainbow Trust!
Starting this Thursday 28th September, Team Elliotts will cycle the gruelling ride from Ostend, Belgium to Vosges, France over 3 days.
Team Elliotts will pass through three countries on their challenge; starting in Belgium and riding through Luxembourg before reaching France.
The final day of the gruelling challenge will see Team Elliotts ascend over 19,000ft up the Vosges mountains to the finish point at the top of La Planche des Belles Filles.
The team are hoping to raise £10,000 for charity, with half of the money raised going to Elliotts staff-nominated Charity of the Year, Rainbow Trust. This very special charity provides emotional and practical support for families who have a child with a serious, life threatening or terminal illness.
The other half of the money raised will go to Challenge Adventure Charities’ main supported charities, which for 2023 is Cancer Research UK and The British Heart Foundation.
“Team training started late July and I think we’re ready for the challenge. We’ve completed a series of rides across Ringwood, Romsey, Bishop’s Waltham and areas with lots of hills to help strengthen our legs”, says Dan Coombes, Assistant Branch Manager at Elliotts Southampton.
Tom Elliott, CEO of Elliotts, says “There are 125 riders across 31 teams taking part in the Vosges challenge this year, and we have 12 riders for Team Elliotts.
It will be a demanding route, and we have an ambitious fundraising target, but we have a fantastic team who are determined to smash both.”
The 550 mile challenge, named the Vosges Challenge, has been organised by Challenge Adventure Charities. The organisation was founded by Elliotts’ own chairman, Stuart Mason Elliott, and has raised over £4.5million since the late 1996 for worthwhile causes. 100% of monies raised goes to good causes.
Elliotts has set up a JustGiving page and are aiming to raise £10,000, with any donations being greatly received.
