What your front door says about you

A front door enhances the appearance of any home.

It’s one of the first things people see and is the focal point of your house’s kerb appeal.

Whether you choose to replace the door or just give it a fresh lick of paint, it’s a great way of updating your home without the need to spend thousands on modernising the exterior.

But different colour doors, have different meanings.

Here’s our low-down on what each colour represents.

Red
Choosing a red front door would indicate that you live life to the full. Red is powerful and strong which will stand out among your neighbours. Traditional Feng Shui recommends red works best on a south-facing door.

White
White is a traditional colour. It’s crisp, clean and is a popular choice for many UK homeowners. Not only is it a subtle colour but it would suggest you are neat and organised.

Green
Different shades of green have very different meanings. Lime green would suggest you’re quirky and lively, whereas dark green would indicate that you appreciate nature and want to blend in with your surroundings. Dark green is a good option for heritage properties and conservation areas.
Blue
If you opt for a dark blue door, it suggests you are well-grounded and intelligent. Whereas light blue can be found at the seaside or on Georgian properties that are surrounded by a white exterior.

Black
Although black is often seen as a colour of mystery, black doors are sophisticated, stylish and can modernise any home. It’s a timeless look that works with all styles of property, whether it’s a townhouse in the city or a cottage in the countryside.

Grey
Grey is understated. It’s sincere and smart and is a colour that’s becoming increasingly popular. It suggests that your interior is stylish and is a great place for entertaining with friends.
